Our second attempt at a Hazy IPA (or New England IPA), after the great success of the original Juice Boost recipe. We've kept the name but modified the grain bill and hop schedule as we always do to try and keep things new and interesting.
Recipe Rationale
Grain Bill Changes
Compared to our original Juice Boost recipe, we've done away with the acidulated malt (since we now use phosphoric acid to adjust mash pH). We've also increased the amount of oats, but reduced the overall amount of grain being used. We've opted for American Ale malt instead of Golden Promise too. We may or may not throw some dextrose in depending on where our pre-boil pH lands. Looking back on some of our previous recipes, we generally end up a few points lower than expected when using oats in the mash, so if this is the case we'll throw some dextrose in to get things back on track and make up any difference.
Hops
For the hops, we're going for a combination of Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe - which according to our research is a fairly popular combination.
Yeast
This is also our first batch using the new Pomona yeast from Lallemand, and we're very excited to see how it performs in a beer like this.
