"An excellent introduction to Sabro hops in a simple, clean & moderately bitter beer. Tangerine, coconut & stone fruit aromas with cedar & mint."
All Inn Brewing Co - Sabro Hopped Extra Pale Ale FWK Box |
We were keen to give this fresh wort kit a try as we'd never tried Sabro hops before - and from what we had read on this particular hop variety sounded pretty enticing. What better way to get a feel for what a particular hop tastes like than a simple fresh wort kit?
We've given this one the full review treatment - however we're not 100% certain on the actual ABV content since the OG printed on the box is barely legible as can be seen in the picture below
Current SG printed on the box is not able to be deciphered |
We fermented this one at around 20c using Fermentis US-05 dry yeast and dry hopped with approx 50g of Sabro hops after fermentation was completed for 3 days.

The All Inn Brewing Co Sabro Hopped Extra Pale Ale presents a good introduction to Sabro hops. The malt bill is subtle to let the hops shine, and shine they do. Sabro hops have a really unique flavour profile - almost tangy in some ways. Loads of fruit flavours - lots of tangerine and citrus but certainly didn't get the coconut, cedar and mint notes that All Inn claim in their own flavour descriptors. Head retention wasn't particularly strong with this kit, and there was a slight astringent taste which I suspect was simply from the hops as well. Very easy drinking and quite refreshing though.
Sabro is definitely a unique hop which worked well on it's own - however we'd be more inclined to use it in conjunction with other hops for future batches.
